There are days in life that are full of excitement, fun, joy and happenings. Then there are days when nothing is happening.
We rise from our beds. Have breakfast. Drop our children to school. Go to work. Come back. Shop or do laundry at weekends. Go to see a friend occasionally or a cousin visits us. And the same routine goes on.
Our days pass by deep down hoping inside, that some day something wonderful shall happen. She is going to call after 3 years. I will get a job thats only 2 blocks away. Some thing wonderful will happen. And nothing happens.
It is in those moments when nothing is happening, we need to practice happiness. Yes, I said practice happiness.
We have to repeatedly tell ourselves that happiness is not present when an event unfolds. Neither happiness is to be searched out in states of being excited. Nor we have to wait for some good news to be happy. Genuine happiness has nothing to do with these happenings.
There is a way to be happy in days of no-happenings. Be grateful. Focus on what you have. Do a simple ritual every single day. Count 5 things you really appreciate before you leave your bed. During work hours keep a journal with you and write 20 things, no matter how small that you wanted and you have now.
Those are enough reasons to be happy. Think on it. Do it. You will know what I mean.
