People who keep on receiving do not remain happy for long. There is an intrinsic joy in giving and an intrinsic woe in receiving, though extremely subtle but it exists. It does not matter what you are receiving or giving out.
We as human beings and as a creation of nature or God Force or God or Allah or Ilaha or Eelia or Rama whatever name we choose for it follow the path of nature in our purest raw unconditioned form.
The path of nature includes giving first. We give the soil seed first and reap later. We give the child the feed first and see her grow later. We in our closest form to nature are first givers and then receivers.
This giving and receiving has to be on the giving side more or at least in balance with the receiving side. We, to be happy have to learn to give more than we receive, at least that much of giving which equates receiving.
Most of the people who have always received love, attention, care and warmth and have not given that much to others, do not remain internally happy. The amount of this exchange has to be minimum at balance for us being at the margins of happiness and misery.
How happy we are is simply a measure of how much more we give than we receive. Whether it is love, trust, warmth, prayer or anything, it has to be more out flowing. There is no other short path to joy.
